PDP Rejects Governorship Tribunal Judgment in Abia, Heads to Appeal court

The Abia state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the ruling of the governorship election sitting in Umuahia that confirmed Dr. Alex otti's victory as the legitimately elected Governor of Abia state in the March 18, 2023 governorship election.

The PDP, in a statement issued shortly after the Tribunal decision and signed by Elder Abraham Amah, stated that the party was not surprised by the decision.  The PDP contended that the judges made mistakes in their decisions but did not violate the judicial process.

The party accused otti and his men of knowing the outcome of the ruling days before it was handed out. The main opposition party told its supporters that it would challenge the decision, stating that it has already conferred with its legal staff to begin the legal procedure. The party, on the other hand, urged its members to remain calm, obey the law, and have faith in the current PDP leadership's capacity to do the right thing in the future.

The panel upheld otti's victory in the March 23, 2023 Government election.
The Tribunal dismissed the petition filed by PDP's Okey Ahiwe as unfounded.
Ottib of the LP was pronounced the legitimately elected Governor of Abia by the independent National Electoral Commission in March, with 175,467 votes.

Okey Ahaiwe of The PDP came second with 88,527 votes, while Enyinnanya Nwafor of the YPP came third with 28,972 votes
