No Debt Cancellation For Subscribers, MTN Clarifies

No Debt Cancellation For Subscribers, MTN Clarifies

After the system problem is fixed, MTN Nigeria, the service provider, has confirmed that customers whose debts were originally cancelled will still be required to pay them.

Remember how MTN customers celebrated their debt cancellation on social media early on Saturday morning?

In response to a "system glitch" that resulted in the cancellation of subscribers' debt owing to the firm, MTN said in a post on X that the glitch was the reason of the cancellation and that balances would display correct numbers as soon as the issue is fixed.

"MTN Nigeria Communications Plc can confirm a system glitch impacting balance inquiries," the notification said. Consequently, certain clients can see error messages indicating that their balances have been settled.

This is untrue, and as soon as the issue is fixed, all balances will show correct numbers.

To make sure of this, our engineers are working right now. We sincerely apologize.
